This year, I’m learning to live with less in my 2014 Simplicity theme year. That means finding innovative ways to save money so we can spend our money in the places we really need to (or want to). Living with two small boys, I have many opportunities for our house and things to get pretty stinky pretty quickly. I’m a fan of the original, but not the price! When I looked online for other options, I found this recipe and I love it.
Pinspiration: Make Your Own Febreze. This easy, useful project can be completed in 15 minutes. And the recipe seems to hold up to the original very well. Recently, my husband even commented about how good our room smelled after I’d sprayed my mix – awesome!
Start with the right supplies. We easily found all of these items at the big box store. You’ll need:
- Liquid Fabric Softener – pick a scent you really like, I always choose clean, mild fragrances
- Baking Soda
- Quality spray bottle
Mix Ingredients together. Here is the complete recipe for what I made:
- Add 3 Tbsp of Liquid Fabric Softener to your bottle
- Add 1 Tbsp of Baking Soda
- Fill the bottle with water and blend
Storage. I store our blends in a cool, dark, dry location in our house. One is under the sink in the kitchen and one is in the laundry room. When I’m working on any project and I need to refresh non-washable items, I just grab the closest one and spray everything. Works great and saves tons of money!
