15 minute Desk Organization Ideas

We have 96 intervals of 15 minutes every day, meaning you have many opportunities to make a difference.  Each day this month, I’m giving you a 15-minute project idea. Pick your favorites to improve your day, yourself or your world. I promise you have time for this.

I spend most of my professional life at my desk.  So it’s important that I have everything I need right where I need it. Your office and desk can be a place that you enjoy, with your favorite things and all of the resources needed to make your job easier.  Follow these quick ideas to help you make the most of your work space.

A clear work space.  I need tons of work space, so for my office I picked a large table instead of a desk.  It’s great for me to use to work on projects and no matter how many piles my “desk” gets, I’ve still got a clean, clear work area.  Use what you have to your best advantage.  If you need more work space, consider ways to make sure you have enough clear space to get your work done.

Work-appropriate lighting.  I love a bright work-space.  It makes me feel better about everything.  I’ve seen others that like low lighting and lamps.  Make sure you have enough light so you feel good throughout the day.

Adequate Storage.  Find items you can use to store your work supplies.  I really like old, vintage pieces and found this one in storage.  I keep my must-have items on top in easy reach and any items that I need–but I don’t want everyone to see–go inside the closed storage areas.  You don’t need to buy something new, just repurpose what you already have or see if your company has extra supplies that you’d be able to use.

Make it a place you like to be.  I painted the walls “Spa Blue” frosted the windows for a spa feel and keep tons of fun resources at my desk–like sharpies and post-it notes. I also have tons of plants and flowers (all fake, alas, no green thumb here) so I have nice things to look at regularly.  When you bring in your favorite things to your office/desk area, then you enjoy your time here more.  And when you spend so much time at work, you should make it a place that you really enjoy!

I also think that it is important that we have the right lighting while working for our eyes and I think that it will give a good vibes too for working. Thanks for sharing this article.
